ABC’s Holy Man-trimony

ABC’s Holy Man-trimony

On Sunday ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters” featured an unexpected twist to kick off May sweeps… a “gay marriage” technically a civil union, since the show’s set in LA and not the good old MA. An expected 11 million viewers will watch the joining of two men in what one character calls “holy man-trimony.”

What’s totally different about this highly publicized episode is… no one’s bitching. For years and years since the “Dawson’s Creek” and “Roseanne,” there were a million people screaming “boycott!” Not to mention the ever popular protests and AD cancelations… no such thing this time around.

On the set Calista Flockhart, who plays Kevin’s big sister Kitty has been quoted saying: “It’s a milestone, and I was really quite pleased that I got to be a part of it.”

Executive producer Monica Breen assures, “They will be a family. Kevin deserves a stable relationship in the same way that Kitty, Sarah and all the others deserve it. He will be facing many questions in his life — but now he has someone to share that with.”

Allot of folks will be tuning in tonight to watch what’s being touted as the first same-sex union on American network TV between series regulars.

Those of us in the Rio Grande Valley can catch it on KRGV5 at 9PM tonight.
