Film Review – Wanted (R)

Wanted is an exciting romp around Chicago with James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie. The film is loosely based on a comic book series and tells the story of a young man, Wesley Gibson (McAvoy), who hates his boring and uneventful life as an account manager. McAvoy shows how talented he is by hiding his Scottish accent with ease and getting the audience on his side early in the film. But with a miserable existence, a horrible job, and a best friend who’s canoodling with his girlfriend, one could guess it wasn’t that hard. His life, like many men’s before him, is turned upside down when Fox (Jolie) steps in. Jolie gets the chance to really showcase her talent in this film, her role is like that from Mr. & Mrs. Smith, just turned up a few hundred notches. The action in the film is crazy, actually it’s insane, but it makes for a damn good ride. The top notch acting doesn’t hurt either.

While every Out In McAllen reader may not be into all the adrenaline and violence, I’m sure we all enjoy Jolie. Most will also enjoy McAvoy, who looks like a million bucks throughout the whole film and even takes his shirt off and shows us what he’s made of. The mixture of the great acting, intense action, hot bods, and Jolie’s lips still rock.
